Piano Day @The Pool

29 March is the 88th day of the year and once again PIANO DAY. Since 2015, this day, created by Nils Frahm, has been celebrated all over the world with concerts and events centred on the piano. This year, for it is also being celebrated in the pool with a series of concerts lasting several days.

From 29 March to 1 April, a festival dedicated to piano music in all its facets will take place there. Various local and international artists put the piano at the centre of their work, interpret the instrument in their very own way and invite you to discover its sound over and over again. Around the world in 88 keys...

All evenings are free of charge, a donation for the musicians is requested.

All concerts start at 20:00

Düsseldorf Festival: Klavier 21 - Tom Blankenberg & Raffael Seyfried

  • Burgplatz Düsseldorf, NRW, 40213 Germany (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The composing pianists Tom Blankenberg (this year's Förderpreisträger Musik der Stadt Düsseldorf) and Raffael Seyfried plan their joint festival appearance as a vital new start. Seyfried explores the dynamic processes of acoustic and electronic material, the interactions of piano and modular synthesizer moving free of the constraints of any particular genre. Of Tom Blankenberg's music, a British music critic wrote that it sounds "as if Bill Evans were communicating with Arvo Pärt." Blankenberg's piano monologues are little stories from the vocabulary of classical, jazz, avant-garde, minimal music and ambient.
